At this age, the Montessori materials provide a wholesome range of activities that develop orderly thought patterns, and independent work habits while developing the coordination of movement.
Sensorial materials have multiple uses, and appeal to the child's senses of size, color, shape, touch, sound, temperature and weight. These materials classify sensorial impressions in a graphic way that lead to abstract concepts.
  • The long red rods for length
  • The brown stairs for increasing volume
  • The pink tower for cubing
  • The cylinder blocks introduce discrimination of size

Montessori Material

Montessori Language Materials have an unlimited scope of manipulatives to teach reading, understanding of language, how language is used and the function of words. From sandpaper letters to phonetic object boxes, where children match an object to a label. Montessori language has a variety of object boxes to teach reading skills, phonetic and long vowels. Language extends to botany, zoology and cultural subjects including maps and puzzles.
Montessori Mathematics materials have an inherent order of sequence. These manipulative isolate math concepts from number rods, spindle boxes which associates quantity and symbol, to the concrete bead material that appeals to a children's baric sense. These are only a few of the materials the child will be introduced to. There are many materials in Montessori that support the mathematical mind.
There are a series of sensorial activities that present puzzle maps of the continents and individual maps of each continent. Interestingly, where the knobs are placed are the capitals of the countries.
There are many other Montessori activities and new educational concepts that support learning in botany and zoology. These areas have incorporated the latest findings in ways to introduce botany and zoology to children.
